Our Herd

We have 100 pigs including Yorkshire-Landrace,  Tamworth, Duroc ,Old Spot  Hereford  and Berkshire breeds. The Yorkshire-Landrace pigs are known for reliable meat  production and prolific reproduction. The Hereford and Berkshire stock are  pedigreed eritage breeds. We have found that the Old Spot and Tamworth pigs  excel at foraging and are excellent mothers. Durocs are prized for fast growth.  Our initial stock were purchased when young and raised to finish on the farm. We  are presently farrowing spring and fall piglets on the  farm.

Habitat
Heath
HABITAT All pigs are free to root and roam as they are cycled through large pastures throughout our farm. Our typical pasture is 8-10 acres and includes access to sun, shade, field forest and water. Our pigs are not brought  to barns in the winter, they spend their time in huts and shelters throughout the farm. This winter weight contributes to a natural fat layer that enhanced the flavor of our products.

Our farrowing sows and young piglets may be brought to barn  shelters as the weather demands, but return to the fields when  ready.
